Facebook Questions - Ask 500 Million of your Closest Friends
Starting today, Facebook is rolling out their Facebook Questions (FQ) feature.  If you've used Yahoo! Answers then you are familiar with the concept - you post a question, and anyone else on Yahoo! Answers can provide and answer, and vice versa.  With FQ, of course, your FQ can be answered by 500 million of your closest friends. The feature will be visible on the left-hand side of your homepage (identifiable with a light bulb).

Facebook Question includes some interesting features:

  • Tag: You can "tag" a FQ just like you now "tag" photos with your friend’s names.  Your FQ can be tagged by either topic or category.
  • Photos: Have a FQ on a photo? Your 500 million friends can help you figure out if it’s a Brown Recluse Spider next to you in a photo or a Cellar Spider.
  • Follow: If you are particularly interested in a FQ, you can choose to follow it for any answers or updates.
  • Topic: You will be able to search the FQs by topic. Maybe your FQ has already been asked and answered.
  • Polls: You can create a quick poll to get opinions rather than answers.
  • Updates: Using FQ will update your homepage.

Facebook has come out and said that FQ is not an advertising platform. It will strictly be a public forum for questions and answers. And by public, they mean, not private. Choose what you ask carefully.
